It was announced on Wednesday (April 9) that twenty-five sound recordings, including Amy Winehouseâs Back to Black, Elton Johnâs Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and the Hamilton Original Cast Album, have been inducted into the Library of Congressâ National Recording Registry. The annual honor is a way to showcase the diverse music history and culture of America through iconic albums and songs. This yearâs registry also includes Tracy Chapmanâs 1988 self-titled LP, Miles Davisâ Bitches Brew, Mary J. Bligeâs My Life, and songs by Steve Miller Band (âFly Like an Eagleâ), Celine Dion (âMy Heart Will Go Onâ), as well as Brian Enoâs Microsoft Windows reboot chime, and the Minecraft: Volume Alpha soundtrack. âThese are the sounds of America â our wide-ranging history and culture.
